Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed an agreement with Liverpool over the transfer of goalkeeper, Pepe Reina for a reported £2 million.
In an interview from Bayern’s US tour, Rummenigge stated that they had finalised an agreement and that Reina was now their goalkeeper (pending a successful medical).
“Yes, we’ve reached an agreement. Reina is our new goalkeeper. He is very experienced and fits the profile the sporting directors were looking for. He wanted to come to Munich, even though Manuel Neuer is the number one.”
Reina is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days but is not expected to join the team for the tour of the United States, a tour he just came home from with Liverpool and will train at the club until he is rejoined by his new teammates.
Guardiola had stated earlier this summer that his intention was to bring in a keeper to rival German international goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer for the starting role, which he has seemingly found in the ever-spry Reina.
Reina leaves Merseyside having made 395 appearances for the Reds since joining the club from Villarreal in 2006.
