Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique praised the performance of Xavi Hernandez, but was disappointed by the 1-1 pre-season friendly draw with Nice on Saturday evening.
In his post-match press conference, Luis Enrique spoke about the draw but was able to take away several positives.
“The result is what matters least. These games are for seeing where each player is and telling each of them what things they’ll need to improve.
“We were wrong. In the first half, we failed to create space … In the second half we created more chances by playing well.”
Luis Enrique then praised his former teammate and current leader, Xavi Hernandez, who was the standout player in the match.
“Right now he’s back to his best both in terms of fitness and motivation … I hope that all the players with me now are still here at the end of the season.”
Luis Enrique concluded by discussing any potential signings after seeing the performance of his team.
“We’re going the logical, and correct, way about things. We can’t expect too much before the season has even started.”
