Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid over a two-year loan deal, where the 20-year-old right-back will undergo a medical on Monday before officially being presented by the club.
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool will have an option to buy following the 2015-16 season for a currently undisclosed fee, rumoured to be worth £6 million, but will be dependent on how many minutes the player received under Brendan Rodgers.
Manquillo, who has spent his entire career in Atletico Madrid’s system, but with Juanfran signed until 2016, Manquillo would not be able to receive the necessary minutes to reach his obvious potential.
Liverpool CEO, Ian Ayre reportedly flew to Spain late last week with the intent of returning to Merseyside with both Manquillo and Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno.
Several weeks ago, Liverpool looked to have lost out on the 20-year-old, who was set to join Arsenal, but all signs now point to Manquillo’s imminent arrival at Liverpool.
