Liverpool are reportedly lining up a cut-rate €6m bid for Barcelona’s Dani Alves.
According to Mundo Deportivo quoting Caught Offside, Liverpool are unsure whether English international, Glen Johnson, who has one year remaining on his current contract, will sign an extension and have sought out Dani Alves, who is also in the final year of his contract at Barcelona.
Alves exit from the club after eight trophy-laden years as been widely discussed as the 31-year-old is nearing the end of his prime and would likely ask for one last payday, should he sign an extension with Barcelona.
Paris Saint Germain looked to be the likely destination for the Brazilian international, but that deal has seemingly fallen through since their were hit with Financial Fair Play restrictions.
While the validity of the report may be in question, Martin Monoya is better suited to Luis Enrique’s system more than the pacy, attack-minded Alves and with the rumours that Juan Cuadrado could be coming in, the writing may be on the wall for Alves and a move to Liverpool could give him several more years playing at the highest level and in the Champions League.
