Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema recently admitted that he can’t chose between winning the World Cup with France or winning La Decima Champions League with Real Madrid, as they are both such immensely important competitions for both his sides.
In a recent interview from the French national team camp in Paris, Benzema spoke about the two competitions at the forefront of his mind and cannot chose one or the other, and hopes he doesn’t have to.
“I can’t chose the Champions League or the World Cup, both are very important. The club and the national team are two very different things. In one, you work every day and the other you don’t.”
Benzema went on to add that, “both are possible,” and the winning the World Cup is “the most beautiful thing that can happen to a player” and therefore must be “in top form when it comes around.”
Benzema then discussed his current form and praises manager Carlo Ancelotti for helping him rediscover it.
“I’m in good shape, in top form and that can be seen on the pitch. A player goes through bad times and good times. When times were bad, I kept working hard, as I continue to do. Through hard work and the trust of my coaches, I’ve gotten over the bad times.
“Ancelotti hasn’t transformed my game, but for a striker, it’s good that the coach gives you confidence even when you don’t score, in the ones you play poorly and get whistled at. That’s that same as Deschamps and the same as Zidane, who I work very hard with after training. Zidane is always with me, I feel like he wants me to succeed with the club and the national team. After training we talk a lot and work on things that are specific to strikers.”
