FA charge Charlie Adam with violent conduct following incident with Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud

The Stoke midfielder appeared to stamp on the Gunners forward during their 1-0 win over Arsene Wenger's men at the Britannia on Saturday

Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association following an incident with Arsenal's Olivier Giroud.
The Scot appeared to stamp on the French striker during the second half of the Potters' 1-0 win over Arsene Wenger's side at the Britannia on Saturday.
The incident was not seen at the time by referee Mike Jones or his fellow match officials, but the FA has acted after viewing footage of the clash .
Adam has until 6pm on Tuesday to respond to the charge and the Potters have issued a statement on their website indicating that they will be appealing the charge.
"Charlie and the Club are surprised and disappointed to learn of this and will appeal vigorously against the decision," the statement read.
