The pilot of missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 may have turned back towards Kuala Lumpur before disappearing, it has emerged.
Radar tracking suggests the plane may have made a diversion from its scheduled route to Beijing before it went missing with 227 passengers and 12 crew on board.
As a result, rescue teams have expanded their search to Malaysia's western coast.
Royal Malaysian Air Force chief Rodzali Daud said: "What we have done is actually look into the recording on the radar that we have and we realised there is a possibility the aircraft did make a turnback."
The flight is presumed to have crashed off the Vietnamese coast on Saturday, after losing contact with air traffic controllers off the eastern Malaysia coast.
