And the Blues boss says signing
Edison Cavani or Zlatan Ibrahimovic would be "impossible" this summer
as he goes in hunt for a new striker
Jose Mourinho has again insisted
Chelsea cannot win the title because they don't have a goalscorer - and mocked
the age of Samuel Eto'o.
But the Blues boss ruled out summer moves for Edison
Cavani and Radamel Falcao - while taking a dig at old rival Claudio Ranieri at
Monaco.
Chelsea are top of the table with
only 11 games to go and Mourinho has never lost a title while
leading in February.
leading in February.
But speaking to French TV channel
Canal Plus, the Portuguese ruled out Chelsea finishing top.
"No, it is not possible,"
he said. "We don't have a goalscorer. Samuel Eto'o. Yes, Eto'o, but he is
32, maybe even 35, I don't know."
Mourinho also claimed buying Edison
Cavani or Zlatan Ibrahimovic from PSG would be impossible - and then admitted
he was approached by the Paris club to takeover after Real Madrid.
"I did not say yes or no - I
did not receive a direct offer," he continued. "We have a
relationship. But I don't want to feed false questions - I want to stay. I have
four years left on my contract and then we will see."
A swap deal between Cavani and Eden
Hazard been floated in the French press but Mourinho responded: "No, Eden
is our boy. He is the boy we want to have for ten years and build the team
around him. What if PSG offer 100 million? Only if Financial Fair Play does not
exist, and if Financial Fair Play does not exist, we have the money to say
no."
Another striking alternative would
be Radamel Falcao, who last summer decided to move from Atletico Madrid to
Ranieri's cash-rich Monaco. Mourinho added: "No, it is impossible. We
don't have Falcao and Falcao does not have a team. He plays in front of 3,000
people, a player cannot play in front of 3,000 people. For me, if one day I
coach Monaco, it is to finish my career. It will be the end."
