EFCC May Invite Sanusi Over Alleged Fraud

Although a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, Friday, issued a restraining order on the Attorney-General of the Federation, Inspector-General of Police and State Security Service, their privies or any other law enforcement agencies of the Federal Government “from infringing on the rights” of the Suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, there are indications the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) may prosecute him over alleged acts of financial recklessness in under administration’s as CBN’s head.

Sources close to the Presidency said it was disclosed that Sanusi may be invited this week for questioning on the allegations against him.

President Goodluck Jonathan had last Thursday suspended Sanusi as the CBN Governor and appointed the most senior Deputy Governor of the bank, Dr Sarah Alade, as acting Governor of the bank until the conclusion of ongoing investigations into breaches of enabling laws, due process and mandate of the CBN.
