But the Gunners boss
believes his side can overcome Pep Guardiola's side tomorrow night as
determination spreads through the squad
Arsene Wenger last night claimed Bayern Munich are red-hot favourites to
win the Champions League.
But Wenger insists that Arsenal can take confidence from
last year when they went out on the away goals and overcome Bayern this time.
Arsenal boss Wenger said: "We know we face the favourites of the
competition. We have belief because we have only had big games in the Champions
League and the FA Cup - Tottenham and Liverpool.
"Since the start of this season we have known we have had to be 100
per cent for every game. I believe we can do it but that is down to tomorrow.
"Last year, I believe we went out on the away goal. That shows you it
is important it is not to concede at home. But we are in a much better mental
shape than a year ago. We lost to Blackburn in the cup and it was a big
disappointment - whereas this time we won. And we are really determined to win
tomorrow.
"It is important because every minute counts - we are conscious of
that and will try to start very strong."
Wenger also says the second leg win in Munich gave them confidence for the
rest of the season which has carried over into this campaign.
"It gave us belief to finish well the season and since the start of
this season we have done well as well and are in a strong position," said
Wenger.
"Now it is down to us to how well we can show the same focus and
spirit as we did against Liverpool for the rest of the season."
Arsenal may bring in Tomas Rosicky - who Wenger regularly picks for big
games in Europe for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - but otherwise everyone trained
this morning.
Three youngsters - Kris Olsson, Hector Bellerin and Semi Ajayi - trained
with the first team but are unlikely to be on the bench.
