And this is just a bad way to kick start the day. Bad news making the rounds from my Alma mater is that a final year student of the department of Engineering, Federal university of technology Akure simply identified as Festus, hung himself after checking his results and discovering he will be spending another year as an extra year student in the school.

Well, i don't know about you guys but i too have been in such a shoe, and it's quite unfortunate that we only see the smiles on people's faces but we don't know the load they carrying deep within them. Some folks are well built mentally and emotionally to deal with situations like this, and others aren't that made for times as these. Especially for a university where you spend 5 years to bag a degree in whatever course you going in for, even if na wood technology you wan study, my brother it's still 5 years. Then coupled with all the strikes and all, frustration is bound to set in no matter what.
Damn, i remember how frustrated i was when i realized that with all my efforts to stay afloat academically, for one reason or the other, my department ended up extending my stay in FUTA by an extra semester. The reason i emphasize on the word DEPARTMENT is because, at a point, you start to get a clearer picture that it seems the academic staff peculiar to each department either have an unwritten agenda to try maintaining a certain status quo by keeping students back for a semester or even a year whereas they could have easily let the student OFF THE HOOK, so to say. So at the end of the day, it gets messed up if probably you get to find out that your colleague who had a similar academic issue in another department was HELPED in the proper way so as to graudate early, while you on the other hand have to stay another year because your departmental staff keep bringing up spurious excuses that don't make sense. Anyway, i guess as for FESTUS, he couldn't TAKE THE HEAT no more and decided to GET THE HELL OUT THE KITCHEN, like literally. RIP to him.
